Mt. SAC Softball wins 13th consecutive game; Defeats LBCC, 6-3, in SCC action

(Long Beach, CA) Mt. SAC Softball, one of the hottest teams in the state right now, took a 2-game lead with an 11-1 record in the South Coast Conference with its 13th win in a row Thursday, March 28 defeating host Long Beach City College, 6-3.

The Vikings are second in the SCC with a 9-1 record.

With a 3-0 Mt. SAC lead heading into the fifth inning, the Vikings tied the game with three runs.

The Mounties, 21-6 overall, responded two innings later with three of their own to lead, 6-3 in the seventh inning.

Highlighting the seventh was a two-run home run by freshman catcher Morgan Knubuhler (1-2, R,2 RBIs) and an infield single by pinch hitter Emily Bechtel, scoring shortstop Katie Griego (2-4, 2 R, SB).

Centerfielder Rianna De La Barcena (2-4, R, SB) added two hits for the Mounties.

Sophomore pitcher Alyssa Rubalcava (8-1) picked up the win in relief in two-plus innings of work for the Mounties.
