
San Diego, Calif. – Freshman Maya Rush set a new Mt. SAC Women's Track and Field school record in the women's javelin at the Arnie Robinson Invite on Friday, March 28, with a throw of 139' 3". In addition to her record-breaking performance, the Mounties had several other standout finishes, securing top spots across multiple events and showcasing their strength as a team.
In the 5000 meters, Ava Cornell earned a third-place finish with a time of 18:06.04. Alyssah Johnson also finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.97 seconds. The Mounties had a handful of impressive first-place finishes, including Carlota Romay Rega winning the high jump at 5' 3" and Astrid Teran topping the pole vault competition with a jump of 12' 7.5".
The team also had solid performances in the throwing events. Sidney Sparks claimed second place in the shot put with a mark of 32' 3.75", while Phoenix Raso finished second in the discus with a throw of 118' 5". In the hammer throw, Brooke Welliver took first place with a throw of 132' 9", and Araxy Chivchyan finished third with a throw of 130' 3".

The Mounties are competing in the So Cal Regional Multi Championship at Cerritos College in Norwalk April 1-2 before heading off to the UCSD Triton Invite in San Diego on Friday, April 4. Keep up the good work, ladies!
