Mt. SAC Women’s Track and Field Sit in Second by a Narrow Margin in SCC Prelims

(Torrance, CA) A mere six points separate the Mt. SAC Women's Track and Field team from Cerritos College in the South Coast Conference Prelims held on Tuesday, April 23, at El Camino College. The SCC Championships will continue on Saturday, April 27, with the finals at El Camino College.

Long Beach City College (26), host El Camino (25), and Pasadena City College (5) are a distant third through fifth in the two-day event.

Mt. SAC had four first-place winners, with two in the running events and two in the field events. Running event winners were Kahlai Cruser in the 800 and Amaliyah Smith in the 100 Hurdles, while Exacte Kamba and Emily Johnson won the Triple Jump and Heptathlon, respectively.

Second-place finishers were Leila Champion (100), Tatiana Sprock (400), Ingrid Tamayo (10,000), and Kyra Miedecke (Javelin). Third-place finishers include Champion (200), Yasmeen Delgado (800), Malani Johnson (Javelin), and Catalina Teran (Heptathlon).
