
Walnut, Calif. – In a commanding conference win, the Mt. SAC Women's Tennis Team clinched an impressive 8-1 victory over El Camino on Thursday, February 27. Following this win, the team's record sits at 8-2, while the Warriors drop to 0-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mounties dominated singles play, winning five of six matches. Paige Valenzuela set the tone with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 win over Robyn Wong at No. 1 singles, while Sichen Chang followed with a decisive 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Mandy Rivera and Jancy Myer also earned wins, with Myer rallying after dropping the first set to claim a 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3) victory. Nadine Rizkallah won by walkover at No. 6. The only victory for ECC came in a hard-fought battle at No. 3 singles, where Jhanine Estigoy edged out Emma Cervantes in a thrilling three-set match, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 1-0 (12-10).
Mt. SAC was equally dominant in doubles action, sweeping all three matches. The top duo of Valenzuela and Kasandra Uy blanked their opponents 8-0, while Mia Vo and Tabitha Ortiz matched that performance at No. 2. Cervantes and Chang secured a win by walkover at No. 3 doubles.
