Costa Mesa, Calif. -- The Mt. SAC Women's Tennis Team wrapped up their team season on Tuesday, April 15, with a hard-fought battle against No. 2 seed Orange Coast College in the second round of the 2025 3C2A Dual Team Tennis Regional Championship. Despite an outstanding effort and strong start, Mt. SAC came up just short, falling 5-3 in a tightly contested match.
The Mounties came out strong in doubles play, taking two of the three matches to grab an early lead. The No. 1 doubles duo of Julianna Vich and Paige Valenzuela secured an impressive 8-4 win, while the No. 2 team of Kasandra Uy and Tabitha Ortiz showed incredible resilience, rallying from a 2-5 deficit to claim an 8-6 comeback victory.
Singles action started with a dominant performance by Vich, who cruised to a commanding 6-0, 6-0 win. However, OCC responded with victories at the No. 2, No. 4, No.5 and No. 6 spots to clinch the five matches needed to advance. At the time the match was called, No. 3 singles player Uy, had split sets and was trailing 2-5 in the third—fighting to the very end.
Though the team season ends here, the journey isn't over. Mt. SAC now turns its attention to next week's State Individual Championships in Ojai, where several Mounties will continue to compete for the State Championship Title in both singles and doubles. Keep it up, ladies!
