Mt. SAC Men’s Track and Field Team Posts Strong Results at Arnie Robinson Invitational

San Diego, Calif. – The Mt. San Antonio College Men's Track and Field Team delivered an outstanding performance at the Arnie Robinson Invitational, hosted by San Diego Mesa College on Friday, March 28. The event saw over 10 colleges competing, along with unattached athletes, and the Mounties showcased their depth and talent by earning several top-three finishes across a wide range of events.

In the individual races, Kerry Smith Jr. finished an impressive second place in the 400 meters with a time of 48.69 seconds. Noah Chairez secured third place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.94, while Jude Enriquez also claimed third place in the 1500 meters, finishing in 4:01.25. In the 5000 meters, Jordan Berkley ran to a third place finish, clocking in at 14:57.44. Joshua Cervantes added another top-three finish, earning second place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.01 seconds. Nicholas Nocero placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 55.20 seconds.

The Mt. SAC relay teams also had strong performances. The 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of Huy Ho, Mentoa Mckenzie, Van Rhodus, and Smith, finished in second place with a time of 41.74 seconds. The 4x400 meter relay team, featuring Shane Plourde, Smith, Rhodus, and McKenzie, also earned a second- place finish, crossing the line in 3:20.74.

In the field events, Evan Johnson placed second in the high jump with a clearance of 6' 6.75", while Jonah Wilson took 3rd with a jump of 6' 2.75". In pole vaulting, Nathaniel Zwisler emerged as the event winner, clearing 15' 5", while his teammates Mateo Guerra (15' 5") and Austin Pepito (14' 11") finished second and third, respectively.

The Mounties also excelled in the horizontal jumps, with Elijah Crook taking second place in the long jump with a mark of 22' 9.75". Brandyn Wetherspoon finished third in the same event with a leap of 22' 1".

In the throws, Oluwatoni Babatunde had a solid performance, placing third in both the shot put (42' 3.25") and discus (135' 4"). The team's success extended to the hammer throw, where Matthew Ortiz won the event with a throw of 140' 3", and Duke Hemsley placed second with a mark of 131' 11". In the javelin, Taiyo Ishiguro earned a 2nd place finish, launching the javelin 204' 10".
