Mt. SAC Women’s Beach Volleyball Splits Matches with Santa Monica and Bakersfield

Walnut, Calif. – On a wet and rainy day, the Mt. SAC Women's Beach Volleyball Team split their matches on Friday, February 7, falling 4-1 to Santa Monica College before bouncing back with a commanding 5-0 sweep over Bakersfield College. The Mounties now hold a 4-3 record on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In their first match of the day, the Mounties faced a tough challenge against Santa Monica College. The lone victory came from the No. 3 pair, Eva Fisher and Emma Carson, who battled through three sets to secure the win with scores of 25-23, 21-18, and 15-13, preventing the team from getting swept.

The Mounties rebounded in dominant fashion against Bakersfield College, winning all five pairings in straight sets. Candace Ceballos and Madeline Castillo led the charge with a decisive 21-10, 21-11 victory over Lucely Parra and Maya Barron. Itzel Aguayo and Freda Lei followed with a 21-12, 21-19 win against Bre Roberson and Alex Watts. Fisher and Carson continued their strong performance, taking their match 21-19, 21-14. Mayah Tiscareno and Eva Becerra secured their sets 21-14, 21-14 against Chloe Comstock and Amanda Zepeda, while Rhiannon Rodriguez and Jeanie Rhodes wrapped up the sweep with a solid 21-16, 21-16 win over Zoe Fowler and Faith Ward.

NEXT UP:

The Mounties will travel north to compete against Santa Barbara and Glendale on Friday, February 14.
