Rubilena Rojas has been a cornerstone of the Mt. San Antonio College Softball program since joining as an assistant coach in 2010. She took the helm as head coach in 2013, leading the Mounties to extraordinary success, including back-to-back California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships in 2018 and 2019.
In 2019, she made history by becoming the first Mt. SAC softball coach—and one of only two in California community college history—to win consecutive state titles. That year, her team finished with an impressive 44-5 record, claimed its fourth straight South Coast Conference (SCC) Championship with a perfect 22-0 conference record, and was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) California Community College Staff of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Rojas briefly stepped away from Mt. SAC after the 2019 championship season to join Auburn University as an assistant coach, specializing in defense and fielding. Despite a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she contributed to the Tigers' 16-11 record, helping them secure key wins over Northwestern and Minnesota. She returned to Mt. SAC in 2021 and has continued to build on her legacy.
Throughout her tenure, Rojas has been named South Coast Conference Coach of the Year five times and SCC All-Sports Coach of the Year for three consecutive seasons (2017, 2018, 2019). Under her leadership, the Mounties have consistently dominated, with an overall coaching record of 383-81 and a remarkable .825 winning percentage.
In 2024, Rojas guided the Mounties to a 38-11 record, capturing the SCC Championship with an 18-3 conference record and securing Regional and Super Regional titles. That season, she coached multiple standout athletes, including NFCA All-Americans, NFCA Rawlings Golden Glove recipients, and All-State honorees. Her efforts earned her a fifth SCC Coach of the Year title.
The 2023 season was equally stellar, with the Mounties finishing 40-7, winning the SCC with a dominant 23-1 record, and again claiming Regional and Super Regional titles. Several of her athletes received top conference, regional, and national accolades, including SCC Pitcher and Player of the Year honors.
Over the years, Rojas has developed and mentored countless top-tier athletes, with numerous players earning NFCA All-American, All-State, and SCC honors. Her ability to build championship-caliber teams year after year has solidified her reputation as one of the most accomplished coaches in community college softball.
Before joining Mt. SAC, Rojas served as head coach at Orange Coast College from 2007 to 2010 and as an assistant coach from 2005 to 2006.
As a player, she was an elite competitor on the international stage. Born in Maracay, Venezuela, she represented her country in the 2008 Olympics, helping her team to a fifth-place finish. A 10-year veteran of the Venezuelan National Softball Team, she competed in four ISF Women’s World Championships, two Pan American Games, three Central American Games, and the ISF World Cup.
Rojas was a standout collegiate player at the University of Virginia, earning First-Team All-ACC honors in 2001, 2002, and 2003. She was also an Easton All-American (2001), ACC Rookie of the Year (2000), and University of Virginia MVP (2003). She remains one of the top hitters in ACC history, finishing her career with a .401 batting average and ranking among the top 25 in NCAA Division I.
Beyond coaching, Rojas serves as a World Baseball/Softball Confederation Ambassador and an advocate for the U.S. State Department’s Empowering Women Through Sports initiative. She also played a key role as the Competition Manager for the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles in 2015.
In her free time, she enjoys RV traveling, salsa dancing, cooking, and spending time with her family. She resides in Brea with her husband, Robert, and their son, Roman.
