Mt. SAC women's team places fourth at State Championships behind strong individual performances

(San Mateo, CA) The Mt. SAC women's track and field team tallied 59 points and finished fourth at the California Community College Track and Field State Championships at College of San Mateo on Friday and Saturday. The top three teams included Cerritos (111 points), Riverside (82.5), and West Los Angeles (72).

Several Mountie athletes placed in the top-five spots in their respective events, including the following:

Rebecca Ruiz captured first place in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 38:13.41 and fourth in the 5,000-meter run at 18:09.61.

Darla Gonzalez cleared a height of 3.75 meters to take first in the pole vault, while teammates Amy Campos and Mayara De Souza tied for second at 3.45 meters.

Terra Valadez finished second in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking in at 15.03 seconds.

Yesenia Flores turned in a time of 11:50.02 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, good enough for fourth place.
