Mt. SAC Women's Track And Field Has A Bountiful Day At Cerritos Opener

(Norwalk, CA) For the first time this season, the mighty Mt. SAC Mounties Track and Field Team came out in full force, putting on a extremely strong showing at the 2018 Cerritos College Opener (Falcon Stadium-Norwalk, CA).  The Mounties captured six individual event titles and placed 19 in the top three overall in the large mixed field of open and collegiate athletes.

Lonsha Bradford (200M - 24.39), Tatyana Pooler (400M - 56.29), Teresa Castillo (800M - 2:21.37), Brittany Mitchell (100M Hurdles - 14.79 / 400M Hurdles - 1:03.86) as well as the 4X100M (46.64)  and 4X400M (3:56.67) Relays all posted the fastest California Community College marks this season in their respective events.

Other highlights included the high flying pole vaulters who took second, third and fourth place, only losing to former state champion and current Mt. SAC Assistant Coach, Tiziana Ruiz.  The sprinters also took 7 of the 11 fastest times posted on the day in the 200M and 5 of the 9 in the 400M (6 of 9 if you count former Mountie great Robyn Brown).  On the distance end, Mt. SAC took 6 of the top 12 in the 800M and 6 of the top 11 in the 1,500M.

The Mounties will compete next Friday and Saturday at the Beach Opener at Cal State Long Beach.
