Mt. SAC Women’s Tennis Opens SCC with 9-0 Blanking Over Victor Valley

(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Tennis team kicked off South Coast Conference action with a 9-0 shutout against visiting Victor Valley on Thursday, February 22. The Mounties, who had recently suffered three consecutive losses, improved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the SCC.

This season, the SCC comprises only three teams, including El Camino and Victor Valley. The Mounties secured a second-place finish last year with a 5-2 record in a five-team conference.

The freshman No. 1 doubles team of Julianna Vich and Paige Valenzuela swept their opponents 8-0, while the No. 2 team of Azalia Rodrigues and Amber Lara claimed victory with an 8-1 score.

Five of the six singles players won their matches in two-set sweeps, with No. 6 singles player Fatima Carlos securing a win by forfeit.

Mt. SAC will continue conference play at El Camino on Tuesday, February 27.
