Mountie Women's Swimming Team Finishes Second in SCC Championships; Fast is "Fast" with Three Individual Titles Including SCC Record

(Walnut, CA) Living up to her name, Mt. SAC freshman sprinter Paige Fast won three events at the South Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on April 18-20, which also included a conference record.

As a team, the Mounties (731) finished second for the second time in the last three years. They had previously won the conference title five times from 2016 until 2022. Long Beach City College (923.50) claimed the championship at the Mt. SAC complex, with El Camino (435.50) securing third place.

Fast was the "fastest" in her record-setting performance in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:09.41. She also won the 200 Freestyle (1:55.60) and 100 Backstroke (1:00.78).

In addition, Fast led off the Mt. SAC 400 Medley Relay team (Fast, Elleanna Ramos, Eden Kennedy, Genevieve Niko), which finished first. Mt. SAC had five individual winners and one relay winner.

Winning two events for the Mounties was freshman Elleanna Ramos in the 100 (58.31) and 200 (2:09.78) Butterfly. Other placers for the Mounties included Madison Dorsey (200 Individual Medley, 2nd; 400 IM, 3rd; 1650, 3rd).

Niko placed second in the 50 Free and third in the 100 Free, along with Kennedy (200, 2nd and 100, 3rd, Breaststroke) and Brianna Solis took third in 3-Meter Diving. Mt. SAC placed second in both the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.

Next up for Mt. SAC is the 3C2A State Championships to be held at Orange Coast College on May 2-4.
