Asani Hampton, Christian Baker and Elijha Ellis lead the Mt. SAC Track & Field team at the Concordia Eagles Invite

(Irvine, CA) Competing against five universities, one individual track club, and three community colleges, the Mt. SAC Men's Track and Field team took home three first-place finishes, eight second places, and five third-place finishes at the Concordia University Golden Eagle Invitational Thursday through Saturday, February 15-17.

Mt. SAC, the two-time defending 3C2A State Champions in the community college division the last two years, competed in 15 of the 21 events.

Sophomores Asani Hampton and Christian Baker led the way with first-place honors in the 60 and 60 Hurdles, respectively.

The Mounties placed in seven of the eight running events they competed in during the three-day invite.

Second-place finishers in the running events were Jake Jensen (60), Reid Locklier (200), Noah Gordon (600), Ian Cocker (800), Andrew Tafolla (Mile) and the Mt. SAC 4 x 400 Relay team (Drew Hill, Ryan Rivituso, Isaac Hernandez and Jaylend Howard.

Finishing third was Nicholas Nocero (60 Hurdles).

Mt. SAC placed in five of the seven field events, with freshman Elijha Ellis taking first place in the Triple Jump. The Mounties swept that event with Ellis, Terrance Sweetman, and Jerry Roberts finishing 1-2-3.

Roberts was the only Mountie to place in two events – Long Jump (3rd) and the TJ (3rd).

Other field placers were freshman Evan Johnson with a second in the High Jump, freshman Quinton Dukes placing third in the Pole Vault and sophomore Jesus Isiordia with a third in the Hammer Throw.

Mt. SAC will host the Ron Kamaka Invitational this Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 22-24.
