(Whittier, CA) With two games remaining in the regular season, the Mt. SAC Men's Basketball team won its eighth game in the last eleven and stands in a tie with East Los Angeles College in second behind first-place Chaffey College.
The Mounties downed the Roadrunners, 76-68, on Friday night at Rio Hondo College to up their record to 6-2 in the South Coast Conference North and 16-9 overall.
Sophomore guard Nick Brown (7-12 FG, 2-2 FT, 5 RB, 2 assists, 3 steals) led the Mounties with 19 points, followed by sophomore G/F Isaiah Watson (5-7 FG, 3-4 FT, 4 RB, steal) with 14 points.
Sophomore guard Ryon O'Quinn (5-9 FG, 4 RB, 4 assists) had 11 points, while freshman guard Josh Johnson (2-3 3PM, 5 RB, 1 assist, 1 steal) and sophomore F/C Damarcus Carter (3-4 FG, 3-5 FT, 2 steals) had 10 points each.
The Mounties out-rebounded Rio Hondo, 35-30, led by seven boards from Carter.
Mt. SAC totaled 31 points off of 22 Roadrunners turnovers and had a whopping 39 bench points.
The Mounties will host L.A. Trade Tech on Wednesday and Chaffey on Friday to conclude the regular season schedule. Game time is 5:00 pm.
