(Ontario, CA) Four players scored in double figures as the Mt. SAC Men's Basketball team handed Chaffey College its first South Coast Conference North loss, 85-70, on Wednesday.
Leading the way for the Mounties was sophomore guard Charlie Evans IV (6-7 FG, 4 RB) with a team-high 17 points. The Mounties drained 12 3-pointers with Evans going 5 for 6 from beyond-the-arc.
Sophomore G/F A.J. McLaurin (5-10 FG, 2-4 3pt.FG, 5 RB, steal) added 13, followed by freshman guard Corey Grant (4-7 FG, 2-2 FT, 6 RB, 8 assists) and freshman guard Josh Johnson (4-6 FG) with ten points each.
The Mounties held a slim 4-point halftime lead, 41-37, but outscored the Panthers by 11-points, 44-33, in the second half for the 15-point victory.
As a team the Mounties dished out 20 assists and were a near-perfect 15 of 17 (88%) from the charity stripe.
Sophomore guard Jason Jamie (4-4 FT, 2 RB) and sophomore G/F Isaiah Watson (3-3 FT, 6 RB, steal) added nine and eight points respectively for the Mounties.
The Mounties will host to East Los Angeles College on Friday for a 5:00 pm game.
