Mountie Baseball ends five-game skid with SCC win over Pasadena City

(Walnut, CA) In the concluding game of a three-game South Coast Conference series, host Mt. San Antonio College (14-11, 6-6) cruised to a 16-2 win over Pasadena City College (15-11, 8-7) on Saturday, March 23, to snap a five-game losing streak. The Lancers were victorious in the first two games, 9-4 on Tuesday, March 19, and 2-1 in 11 innings on Thursday, March 21.

On Saturday, the Mounties jumped out to a 6-0 lead before PCC scored in the top of the third. A six-run fourth gave Mt. SAC a 12-1 lead that the Lancers were unable to overcome. PCC cut into the lead with a run in the seventh, only to see the Mounties post four more runs in the eighth.

Mt. SAC tallied 13 hits on the day and was led by several key players, including Nick Mejia (3-5, 4 R, RBI, 2B), Blake Hagerty (3-6, 2 R, RBI, 2 3B), and Andrew Walters (2-4, 2 R, 6 RBI, SB, 2B, HR).

In relief of starter Kaden Moeller (3 IP, 3 H, R, ER. 2 BB, 6 SO), Matt Viveros (2-0) got the win for the Mounties, pitching four innings, allowing one run on one hit, while striking out three.

Next up for Mt. SAC is a two-game non-conference series against Citrus College (13-11). Game 1 will be at Glendora on Tuesday, March 26, at 2:30 p.m., and Game 2 will take place in Walnut on Thursday, March 28, at 5 p.m.
