Mt. SAC Women’s Cross Country Team Defends Title with Another First-Place Finish at Mt. SAC Invitational

The Mt. SAC Women's Cross Country Team, the reigning 3C2A champions and winners of last year's Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational, once again claimed victory at the historic race on Friday, October 18. The Mounties finished the three-mile course with a score of 29 and a combined team time of 1:40:43.
 
Hartnell College took second place with a score of 62 and a team time of 1:45:11, while East Los Angeles College rounded out the top three with a score of 88 and a time of 1:48:41. A total of 69 runners from 18 community colleges participated in the event.
 
Leading the charge for the Mounties was Ava Cornell, who not only topped the team but also claimed first place overall with a time of 19:01.0. Tigist Bergman and Yadira Arnold followed closely, finishing 5th and 6th with times of 19:41.1 and 20:18.0, respectively. Denise Villarreal secured 9th place at 20:47.8, while Jasmine Brandyberry came in 11th at 20:54.8. Alondra Morales-Espinosa finished 18th with a time of 21:30.5, and Rebekah Cueva completed the scoring for the Mounties with a 26th place finish in 21:53.6.
 
Next up, the team will compete at the South Coast Conference Championships at Heartwell Park in Long Beach on Friday, October 25.
