Mt. SAC Women’s Wrestling defeats Santa Ana, 48-12

(Santa Ana, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Wrestling team won eight of 10 matches to defeat host Santa Ana College in South Conference action on Wednesday, March 13.

With the win, the Mounties improved to 2-0 in the conference.

Santa Ana opened the match with a pin in the 102 Lb. weight class for a 6-0 lead.

The Mounties followed with consecutive pins by freshman Tiffany Yanagi (109) and sophomore Ruby Rivas (116) to lead, 12-6. The Dons' Jade Morales (123) pinned Herminia Estrada to even the match, 12-12.

The Dons forfeited weight classes 128, 136, and 148 as the Mounties took a 30-12 lead with three matches remaining. Pins by Mt. SAC's Elizabeth Carillo (160) and Hayley Huynh (180) and a fourth Santa Ana forfeit gave the Mounties the win.

The Mounties continue conference action on Tuesday, March 19 at Cerritos.
