The Mt. San Antonio College Women's Water Polo Team made a splash on Wednesday, September 18, diving into action to secure an outstanding 27-8 victory over Pasadena City College.
From the first whistle, the Mounties unleashed an onslaught of goals, finding the back of the net 10 times in the first eight minutes of play. Viviana Gil opened the scoring and set the tone for an exhilarating match demonstrating the team's talent on both ends of the pool.
As the game progressed, Mt. SAC continued to ride the wave of momentum with their offensive dominance and aggressive defense on display. By halftime, the Mounties had built a solid 16-5 lead, showing no signs of slowing down.
With each quarter, the team kept the pressure on, ending the third period with a commanding 20-6 advantage. The women kept pace, adding seven more goals in the last period, and making waves all the way to the final buzzer.
Vayda Saucedo had a standout game, scoring four goals while teammates Gianna Gomez, Viviana Gil and Rachel Donahue followed closely behind with three goals each. Goalie Keira Bozek recorded five saves, making it difficult for Pasadena City to find their way to the goal.
With this win, the Mounties improved their record to 5-2 overall and kicked off their conference play with a bang at 1-0. The Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Team is set to compete in their next match on Wednesday, September 25, at home against East Los Angeles College, another rival in their conference.
