The Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Team opened their 2024 season with a successful showing at the Marin College Invitational held on August 30 and 31, securing three wins and one loss.
The tournament began with a challenging 17-9 defeat to Sierra College. However, the Mounties quickly recovered with a 12-6 victory over Modesto later that day. Key performances from utility players Vayda Saucedo and Carolyn Kao, who each scored three goals, along with attacker Rachel Donahue and utility Gianna Gomez, who added two goals each, helped get the team back on track.
On Saturday, the team continued to establish their dominance with a 12-7 win against Marin College and capped off the tournament with a 19-9 victory over Santa Rosa. Carolyn Kao was particularly impressive, scoring five goals against Santa Rosa and leading the team's offensive efforts. The Mounties concluded the tournament with a 3-1 record.
Looking ahead, the Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo Team will participate in the Palomar Mini Tournament on Friday, September 6. They're schedule to face Palomar College at 10 AM and Grossmont College at 12:30 PM. Their first home game is set for Wednesday, September 25, at 3:00 PM against East Los Angeles College.
