The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team faced a challenging defeat on Friday, September 6, against Grossmont College during the Mt. SAC Tri Tournament #2. With Mt. SAC ranked #3 and Grossmont ranked #2 in Southern California, the game was evenly matched and highly competitive. The teams battled through a full five sets with three of those sets extending into extra points. Mt. SAC claimed victories in sets one and three with scores of 25-19 and 26-24, but ultimately fell short as Grossmont edged them out in the remaining sets, with scores of 26-24, 25-22 and 17-15.
Middle blocker Jordyn Romano led Mt. SAC with 12 kills, while outside hitter Trinity Gonzales added nine kills and 12 digs. Outside hitter Candace Ceballos contributed eight kills and 13 digs, and libero Freda Lei added 12 digs. Middle blocker Itzel Aguayo defended the net with six blocks. Despite these efforts, Mt. SAC was outplayed statistically, with Grossmont recording 54 kills compared to Mt. SAC's 43, and 22 blocks compared to Mt. SAC's 15. The game lasted 2 hours and 36 minutes.
