(Cypress, CA) For the third time this season, the Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball team fell to Cypress College in five sets, 3-2.
The Mounties previously lost to CCCAA No. 13 Cypress in both the Grossmont 3-Way Tournament and the San Diego Mesa Invitational.
The latest, a five-set loss (15-25, 25-21, 8-25, 25-23, 6-15), dropped Mt. SAC's record to 2-7 overall.
Sophomore middle blocker Jordon Wilson led the Mounties with 10 kills, followed by freshman outside hitter Sierra Lujan and freshman opposite Jada Sharpe (Ace, 2 Digs) with six kills each.
Freshman setter Brianda Valdez (Ace, 3 Digs) and freshman outside hitter Saipeti Fuiava (3 Digs) had 14 assists apiece and freshman defensive specialist Malia Carr had 12 digs.
The Mounties trailed early in the opening set, 8-0, and fell, 15-25.
The Mounties tied the match, 1-1, with a 25-21 win as the Chargers battled serving problems.
The third set saw Cypress again get out to an early lead, 11-3, and the Mounties eventually lost and trailed in the match, 2-1.
The Mounties won the fourth set with 12 kills and evened the match at 2-2, but fell in the fifth set for the Cypress victory.
