
Ventura, Calif. – In their toughest match of the season so far, the Mt. SAC Women's Tennis Team emerged victorious with a 6-3 win over Ventura College on Friday, February 21. The Mounties remain undefeated at 6-0, while the Pirates fall to 3-4.
Mt. SAC set the tone in doubles play, securing two of the three matchups. Paige Valenzuela and Kasandra Uy claimed an 8-3 victory over Nicole Innacone and Kira Branson, while Emma Cervantes and Sichen Chang dominated Dulce Contreras and Samantha Garcia 8-1. The duo of Mia Vo and Tabitha Ortiz fought hard but fell in a close battle to Lola Tennison and Chandra Padua, dropping their sets 8-9 and 5-7.
The Mounties took four of six singles matches to seal the overall victory. Valenzuela breezed past Innacone 6-1, 6-1, and Uy delivered a strong performance against Tennison, winning 6-3, 6-1. Ortiz overpowered Padua 6-0, 6-2, while Cervantes claimed a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Garcia.
Despite their best efforts, two Mounties came up short in singles play. Vo pushed Branson to three sets but fell 2-6, 6-4, 8-10, while Chang battled against Contreras but ultimately lost 2-6, 4-6.
With another impressive win, Mt. SAC continues to showcase their skills and determination.
