
Walnut – In another South Coast Conference matchup, the Mt. SAC Women's Soccer Team secured a solid 2-0 win over Rio Hondo on Friday, October 18. With this victory, the team holds an overall record of 8-4-3 and remains the only team in the SCC with a perfect conference record of 4-0. This performance continues a trend of strong defensive play and skill, as seven of their eight wins this season have resulted in shutouts.
Mt. SAC took control of the match early, with Michelle Vazquez scoring the first goal at the 12-minute mark, assisted by Leilani White, giving the Mounties a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Noely Rodriguez extended the advantage with an unassisted goal in the 63rd minute, sealing the 2-0 victory.
The team maintained consistent pressure throughout the game, with notable defensive efforts led by goalkeeper Anai Olmedo, who recorded four saves to secure the shutout.
Looking ahead, the Mounties will face another conference rival on Tuesday, October 22, when they take on East Los Angeles College, who currently holds an overall record of 1-9-2 and a conference record of 0-3-1.
