In an absolute dominant display of talent, focus and determination, the No. 1 ranked Mt. SAC Men's Wrestling Team defeated Cerritos College with a staggering score of 59-0. In match after match, the Mounties continued to take down and pin their opponents, with only one weight class going the full three rounds.

The atmosphere in the gymnasium was electric as the Mounties executed their strategies with precision and grit, delivering a true masterclass in collegiate wrestling excellence. The crowd erupted with excitement, shouting "three" with each takedown, thanks to a new rule for the 2024 season that awards three points for a takedown instead of the previous two.

Freshman Rylan Madrid kicked things off in the 125 weight class, pinning his opponent in just 1:51 of the first period. Sophomore Nicolas Arellano followed suit in the 133 weight class, achieving a pin at 1:54. Zain Khan continued the momentum, pinning Evan Granados in the second period at 1:35.

In what turned out to be the most evenly matched contest of the night, sophomore Nicolas Naranjo in the 149 weight class faced his opponent in a competitive bout that went the full three rounds. Brian Geiger then secured a quick victory in the 157 weight class, pinning his opponent in just 1:04 of the first period. Maxximus Martinez kept the pressure on, pinning Dylan Trevino at 2:11 in the first.

As the matches carried on, it was clear that the Mounties had come well-equipped for the challenge. Javier Montes dominated his 174 weight class match, winning by pin in 1:58. The fastest pin of the evening came from Roman Loya in the 184 weight class, who won in just 58.7 seconds.

In the final match of the night, sophomore Jeremiah Strauss triumphed in the 197 weight class with a pin at 1:59, followed by a forfeit in the 285 weight class, declaring Isaac Lopez the champion by default.

The Mt. SAC Men's Wrestling Team will hit the road for their next competition against Santa Ana College on Wednesday, October 30.
