Costa Mesa, Calif. – In what has been a truly remarkable season, the Mt. SAC Women's Golf Team once again claimed the OEC Championship title, after going undefeated with a perfect 45-0 throughout nine matches and winning every invitational and preview event in which they played. The two-day Conference Finals took place on October 28 and 30 at the Costa Mesa Country Club, where the Mounties showcased their skills to come out on top.
Despite facing challenges from gusty winds on the first day, Natalie Neal completed an impressive round, finishing one under par with a score of 71, while Kylie Lau delivered a solid even-par round of 72.
On the second day, the Mounties a new record low score of 300, outpacing Orange Coast at 316, Cuyamaca at 318, Fullerton at 346, and Mt. San Jacinto at 402. Lau shot a 71, Alano Lo added a 74, and Neal recorded a 76, with Sophia Miller and Kaitlyn Wang each scoring 79. Julissa Garcia rounded out the team with a score of 90.
Lau emerged as the top golfer of the OEC finals, finishing with a two-round total of 143, thanks to her rounds of 72 and 71. She also holds the second-lowest average for the 2024 season at 73.1, closely followed by Neal at 75.1.
Additionally, five Mounties earned All-OEC honors, the team has been nominated for the Scholar Team Award, and head Coach Arthur Guevara was named Coach of the Year for the Orange Coast Conference.
Guevara commented on the team's performance saying, "I've had a front seat watching these ladies play for the last two years and not only are they good golfers, but their success comes from being outstanding individuals. It has been a pleasure coaching them".
The Mounties are eager to maintain their momentum as they head into the SoCal Regionals at Los Serranos Golf Club in Chino Hills on November 10-11. We are incredibly proud of our Women's Golf Team! Let's go, Mounties!
