(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Women's Basketball team remained perfect in the South Coast Conference with a 66-52 win over visiting Los Angeles Trade Tech on Friday (January 27).
With the win, the Mounties improved to 17-7 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
The Mounties raced out to a big first-half lead, 33-16, with Trade Tech holding a slight edge in the second half.
Mt. SAC built up its biggest lead of 20 points with 5:33 left in the third quarter, but Trade Tech closed to within nine, 47-56, with 4:08 left in the game. Sophomore Elle Yick drained a 3-pointer to give the Mounties a 12-point, 59-47, lead and the Beavers never got closer the rest of the way.
Leading the way for Mt. SAC was sophomore forward Kameria Piggee (10-18 FGM-A, 4 Stls., Blk.) with a career-high in points (21) and rebounds (24).
Three other players scored in double figures – Endigo Parker (11 Pts., 5-9 FGM-A, 1-1 FTM-A, 2 RB), Jamya Mickens (11 Pts., 5-9 FGM-A, 1-1 3 PM-A, 5 RB, 4 A) and Kamesha Moore (6-6 FTM-A, 6 RB, 6 A, 5 Stls.).
With four SCC games remaining, the CCCAA South Region No. 4 team, travels to ELAC on Friday, Feb. 3.
