(Visalia, CA) In the second round of the 43rd Annual Gilcrest Invitational at College of the Sequoias, Mt. SAC (7-2) dealt San Joaquin Delta College (7-1) its first loss of the season, 46-44, on Friday, Dec. 6.

Tied 24-24 at the half, the Mounties took a 10-point lead, 39-29, at the end of the third quarter, only to see the Mustangs go on an 11-point run to take the lead, 42-41, with 2:05 remaining in the game. Delta took a 44-43 lead with 1:11 left on the clock before a Taylor Shelby jumper with 54 seconds to go put Mt. SAC up for good.

Shelby led all players with 18 points and teammate Ashton Hudson contributed seven in the winning effort. Allyah Cartajena and Lauryn Manns led the Mounties with six rebounds each.

Mt. SAC will play for the tournament championship on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m. against Ventura.
