
(Walnut, CA) After a furious second-half comeback by the Mt. SAC Women's Basketbal Team (17-4 overall), a last-second buzzer-beater by East Los Angeles College (ELAC) defeated the Mounties, 69-68, on Friday night.
Just prior to the Huskies (14-6 oveall) winning basket, guard Dominique McLaughlin gave the Mounties a 68-67 lead, on a driving layup, with 7.3 seconds left in the game.
Less than a minute earlier, McLaughlin gave the Mounties a 66-65 lead, on a 3-pointer, with 52 seconds left.
McLaughlin scored a season-high 30 points (game-high) in the South Coast Conference North Division contest, shooting 11 of 23 from the field, with four 3-pointers. She was also 4-6 from the free throw line, with five rebounds and five assists.
Guard Deja Siaki (7-10 FG) added 18 points for the Mounties. Siaki, was 4-6 from beyond the arc and gave Mt. SAC its first lead of the second half (4:14 remaining) with a 3-pointer, for the 58-57 lead.
Mt. SAC forward Neivi Langi (4-4 FT, steal, 8 pts.) brought down a team-high 13 rebounds and guard Tiana Douglas (5 RB, steal) scored six points.
As a team Mt. SAC was 10 of 14 from the free throw line and out-rebounded East L.A. 45-39.
The Mounties continue SCC North action on Wednesday, January 24, at Pasadena City College. Game time is 5 p.m.
