Walnut, Calif. – With a dominant display of their talents, the Mt. SAC Softball Team blanked Compton College 14-0 on Tuesday, March 25. This victory boosts the Mounties' record to 13-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play, while the Tartars drop to 9-13-2 overall and 7-7 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Mt. SAC found their rhythm early on, jumping to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Singles from Mia Martin and Katie Griego drove in the first three runs of the game.

They kept that momentum going in the second when Morgan Kneubuhler singled to left field, scoring Isabella Aspeitia and Martin, extending the lead to 5-0.

The third inning saw an offensive explosion from Mt. SAC, as they tacked on six more runs. Kayden Connaty scored on a walk issued to Kiana Kadena. Amanda Porterfield followed with a single to right, bringing in Natalie Valiente and Peyton Clark. An error by Compton allowed Kamyla Cerda to reach first and allowed Porterfield and Kadena to score. Connaty then singled to left, driving in Cerda to make it 11-0.

The Mounties finished the game with three additional runs in the fourth inning. Porterfield's sacrifice fly scored Mariah Figueroa, and then Cerda's single to left brought Kadena home. Vanessa Tamayo added a second sacrifice fly, scoring Vyanca Clark for the final 14-0 margin.

Isabella Guerrero performed well on the mound, pitching a complete five innings for the win and earning the shutout. She allowed no earned runs, walked none, and struck out two. Compton, on the other hand, struggled with pitching, using three different pitchers in just four innings. Johanna Vidales was charged with the loss.
