(Norwalk, CA) – Mt. SAC freshman first baseman Brianna Goris and the Mt. SAC Softball team is off to a great start in the early portions of the season.
The latest victory for the undefeated (4-0) Mounties was a come-from-behind 6-4 win over host Cerritos, on Thursday (February 3).
In that comeback win, Goris (2-2, 3 R, 3 RBIs, 2 BB) hit two homeruns to lead the Mounties.
Goris undoubtedly is one of the hottest hitters in the state, 10-15 (.667), which includes, three doubles, six RBIs, two home runs, four runs and a triple.
The Mounties opened the game with two runs on a solo home run by Goris and a run-scoring single by Diaz.
Cerritos then took a 4-2 lead with four runs in the fourth inning.
The second triple by Goris, which tied the game, 4-4, started the four-run seventh-inning rally for the Mounties. Sophomore catcher Ashley Diaz (2-4, 3 RBIs, Dbl) hit a two-run double, scoring Mireya Amezcua (1-1, R) and Alyssa Nicklas for the go-ahead runs.
Also, with two hits for the Mounties was sophomore right fielder Emily Barba (2-4).
