Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country aims for a Three-Peat State Championship

2019-20 Men's Cross Country team

(Walnut, CA) After back-to-back CCCAA Men's Cross Country Championships, Mt. SAC is aiming for a three-peat. It may be tough road to hoe, as a major part of the team has graduated.

"We lost a huge part of our top seven from last year, but the men are hungry to three-peat," Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country Coach Daniel Ozan said. "We are a young team, but dangerous.

"We've got great returning leadership with Isaiah Wilson and Adrian Hernandez, to continue the success we've had."

Notable returners for the Mounties are Travis Cetti and Bryce Butler.

Building for the future are five incoming freshmen to look out for: Zackary Alexander, Lorenzo Orozco, Vicente Huerta, Christian Hernandez and Marco Perez.

Coach Ron Kamata echoed Ozan on the future for the Mounties. "The men look very strong with solid returners and an outstanding freshman class."

"Wilson looks prepared for a great season and Adrian Hernandez, Butler and Cetti bring depth and experience."

"Defending a championship is never easy, but one thing for sure, it will take a lot hard and consistent work by all team members, along with a healthy love for pain and discomfort."

The men will compete in the Fresno Cross Country Invitational at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 8 a.m.
