(Fresno, CA) The Mt. SAC Mounties continued their strong cross country tradition, taking the men's title and placing second in the women's race at the Fresno City College Invitational. The men's team team time of 1:44:09 on the famed 4.0 mile Woodward Park Course, is the fastest in Mt. SAC History and is faster than the past three state championship winning teams. The team scored 26 points, with their top 7 taking the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 12th, 14th and 15th places overall. Top finisher for the Mounties was Anthony Alfaro, who finished in second with a time of 20:38.9.
"It was a great start to the community college season," replied Assistant Coach, Daniel Ozan. "We had some great performances, but still have a lot of work ahead of us."
On the women's side, the Mounties finished in second with 71 points, a mere 2 points behind Northern California powerhouse, Hartnell College. Mt. SAC ran a team time of 1:39.19, which was faster than the Panthers time of 1:39:53. Teresa Castillo was the top finisher for Mt. SAC, placing third and finishing with a time of 18:46.3 over the 5,000M (5K) course.
