(Brea, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country team placed fourth out of 14 teams, seven of which were four-year colleges, in the annual season-opening Mark Covert Invitational Friday at Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea.
Mt. SAC was the top community college finisher with Glendale College in fifth.
Finishing as the top Mountie placer was sophomore Anthony Alfaro, who was sixth with a time of 25:41.7. Freshman Luis Huerta finished six seconds behind Alfaro with a time of 25:47.4 in the No. 10 position, helping Mt. SAC place in the top four in scoring. 97.
Other Mountie finishers were: Manuel Fernandez (SO), 22nd (26:22.2); Joey Dalton (SO), 36th (26:44.4) and Cesar Bermudez (SO), 38th (26:46.3).
Mt. SAC was represented with 27 runners in a race that had 197 runners.
The Mountie runners will head north this Saturday September 9th to race in the Fresno Invitational at Woodward Park.
