(Long Beach, CA) It was March 2012 when the Mt. SAC men's swimming and diving team last lost a conference dual meet. They completed their third consecutive dual meet championship season against a very strong Long Beach team on Friday March 27 at Long Beach.
The Mounties took the early lead after a very close 200 medley relay finish and did not look back. The Mounties swept two events along the way, freshmen Philip Wright, Cody Wood and Brody Coulter went 1-2-3 in the 1000 free to build on the lead and 3 mounties swept the 200 fly four events later. Sophomores Ryan Morales and Eric Aguirre finished 1-2 while freshmean Greg White finished third. Other Mounties to win events were: Soph Emmett Poon (200 Free, 200 IM), Soph Eric Aguirre (100 Fly), Soph Jacob Altree (100 Breast), Soph Kyle Lee (Diving), and Freshman Phillip Wright (1000 Free, 50 Free).
The Mounties will be at the Pasadena Invite on April 3rd-4th and then move into the SCC conference Championships April 16th-18th at East Los Angeles College. "The conference championships are for all of the marbles" said Coach Marc Ruh, "it is a brand new season at this point and we will face very tough competition from Cerritos, Long Beach and El Camino in the championship meet". The Mounties will look to repeat as conference champions, as they did in 2014.
