(Victorville, CA) In the first Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match of the 2020 season (March 9th), the Mt. SAC Men's Golf Team finished second in the Inland Division at Spring Valley Golf Course in Victorville.
Leading the way for the Mounties was Ben Sanders who took fifth with an even par 72.
The low scorers and medalists for the event were Kyle Hazlet of Palomar and John Kim of College of the Desert, who both shot 69.
"I am dissapointed with our finish at the tournament," replied Mt. SAC Men's Golf Head Coach Greg Osbourne. "We are a much better team than we displayed today in the tournament."
Out of the 35 golfers in the tournament, the team the Mounties carded a 376. The top team of the day was Palomar, six strokes lower than Mt. SAC, with a 370. Following the Mounties was COD (387), San Jacinto (390), Cuyamaca (405) and Victor Valley (427).
Additional Mountie scores: Blake Copeland and James Johnson with a 75, Kotaro Noda (77), Chu-Wen (Felix) Tsui (77) and Tommy Chung (78).
Weather-permitting, the next event for the Mounties is the Clash of the Coast Tournament to be held on Wednesday (March 11), on the beautiful ocean view course of Torrey Pines in La Jolla.
