(Long Beach, CA) With a 7-0 lead after one quarter, Mt. San Antonio College posted 28 points in the second to take a 35-14 halftime lead over host Long Beach City College (4-5, 3-3) on Saturday, Nov. 4. The Mounties added 35 more points in the second half to cruise to a 70-14 National Central Conference win to remain undefeated at 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
Mt. SAC nearly doubled the Vikings in total offense, amassing 585 yards (257 passing, 328 rushing) to LBCC's 311 (236 passing, 75 rushing).
Driving the Mounties' rushing attack was Nicholas Floyd who ran for 176 yards on 12 carries and scored touchdowns on 65- and 28-yard runs in the third quarter. Devon Miles (nine carries, 48 yards), Isaiah Dickerson (six carries, 43 yards), Samuel Green (four carries, 41 yards, TD) and De'shon Thompson (one carry, 36 yards) rounded out Mt. SAC's rushing game. In addition, Felix Igiri scored a touchdown on a one-yard run in the third.
Alex Flores tallied 189 yards passing on 11-of-18 passing with four touchdowns for the Mounties. Dedrek Taylor-Akins led Mt. SAC in receiving with four receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Williams (two catches, 49 yards), Tremont Brewer (one catch, 32 yards) and Ryan Boultwood (two catches, 28 yards, TD) also added to the Mounties' receiving numbers.
On defense, Kaylon Bradley led Mt. SAC with six tackles, three of which were solo efforts. Juan Salas (five tackles, three solo), Robert Turner (five tackles, two solo), Katin Suprenant (four tackles, one solo), Dylan Pullen (four tackles, one solo) and Darius Eaves (four tackles) were also active for the Mountie defense.
In addition, Bradley and Eaves combined on a quarterback sack and Brayden Hapner picked off two Viking passes, one of which he returned 52 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Ranked No. 3 in both state polls, Mt. SAC will close out its regular season schedule with an NCC game at Golden West College (8-1, 6-0) on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 12 p.m. The contest will determine the NCC champion and will affect post-season playoff seeding. The Rustlers are coming off a 21-14 win over Cerritos College (4-5, 2-4).
