Mt. SAC Football Downs Cerritos to Remain Unbeaten

(Walnut, CA) Within the first five minutes of the game, host Mt. San Antonio College and Cerritos College (3-3, 1-2) each scored a touchdown and were tied at 7. From there, it was all Mounties as they scored the remainder of the game's points and picked up a National Central Conference win, 29-7, on Saturday, October 14.

A stingy Mt. SAC defense held the Falcons to minus-nine yards rushing and just 168 yards of total offense. The Mounties (6-0, 3-0) also racked up five sacks, two each by Dylan Pullen and Shamar Hawkins, and one by Darius Eaves. Robert Turner (four solo) and Juan Salas (three solo) led the team with four tackles each, while Kaylon Bradley (one solo), Reggie Johnson (one solo), Pullen (three solo), and Eaves (two solo) tallied three tackles each.

All three Mountie touchdowns came through the air as Alex Flores threw for 193 yards on 24-of-39 passing with one interception. Flores' top target was Dedrek Taylor-Akins, who had five receptions for 74 yards and one touchdown. Jordan Williams (45 yards, one TD), Ryan Boultwood (19 yards), Anthony Felton (14 yards), and De'shon Thompson (14 yards, one TD) had three catches each.

On the ground, Nicholas Floyd led Mt. SAC with 77 yards on 12 carries, and Samuel Green added 73 yards on 13 carries.

On the night, the Mounties compiled 359 yards of total offense (193 passing, 166 rushing).

Mt. SAC returns to action on Saturday, October 21, at East Los Angeles College (4-2, 2-1) in an NCC matchup that begins at 6 p.m. The Huskies are coming off a 54-27 win over Long Beach City College (3-3, 2-1). The Mounties defeated ELAC, 21-16, the last time the schools met in 2019.
