Jenna Bird was named Head Coach of the Women's Track and Field / Cross Country Program in the Spring of 2023.  Since joining the Mt. SAC Family in August of 2012, Coach Jenna Bird has developed the Mt. SAC Hurdling program into arguably, the premier community college hurdling program in the nation.  During her time at Mt. SAC, at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships, Bird has guided four champions, nine runner-ups, a third-place finisher and 33 state finalists in the four hurdling events. 

In 2018, Bird's proteges were instrumental in the Mounties capturing the 2018 CCCAA State Championship Team Title for both the men's and women's teams.  That season, she produced nine CCCAA State Finalists, including an individual champion and three runner-up finishers, who scored an amazing 50 points in the four hurdling events.  The 31 points her female hurdlers scored (in two events), equated to a 7th-place overall women's team finish among the 52 teams that competed.  Her men's hurdlers scored 19 points, which equated to an 8th-place overall men's team finish.  Bird's incredible year was highlighted with her being named the 2018 South Coast Conference Assistant Coach of the Year.

In 2016, Bird's hurdlers won an incredible three of the four hurdling events, winning the men's 110M, men's 400M and women's 400M hurdles at the CCC State Championships.    

Prior to arriving at Mt. SAC, Bird spent 3 seasons at Covina High School as an assistant coach and one season at Katella High School (Anaheim) as the head coach.  At Katella, she was named Orange League Coach of the Year.  While at Covina High School, she worked with sprint superstar, Romante McClain, who captured 2 consecutive 100M and 200M CIF State Championships. 
 
A native of Grass Valley, Oregon, Bird competed at Sherman High School, before transferring to Clackamas Community College, where she competed in both relays and hurdles.  After Clackamas, she headed south to attend and compete at Cal State Fullerton where she was coached by then Associate Head Coach and current Mt. SAC Head Coach, Ron Kamaka, in the intermediate hurdles.
 
A self-proclaimed “track nerd”, Bird enjoys spending time with her family in Oregon.  She currently teaches Kinesiology Classes at the Mt. SAC Wellness Center and does personal training.
