Harrison Smith has been with Mt. San Antonio College since 2016 as a professor of kinesiology and strength & conditioning coach, specializing in health and sports performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

A published author and technology developer, Smith has pioneered advancements in velocity-based training (VBT), which uses movement speed to assess and prescribe optimal training loads for athletes. His innovative VBT technology provides real-time feedback, enhancing performance and training efficiency. 

He holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, a master's degree in exercise science, and is a Ph.D. candidate in health science focusing on sport and human performance. With over 20 years of experience, Smith has worked with athletes from collegiate, Olympic, and NFL levels, coaching in basketball, sprinting, volleyball, and football. He holds multiple certifications, including CSCS, PES, and CES, and is an active member of the NSCA. 

Outside of work, he enjoys collaborating with his wife, Dr. Natalia Barajas, a sports physical therapist, and spending time with their dog, Luna.
