San Diego, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team wrapped up a remarkable season with a hard-fought 3-1 loss to No. 2 seed San Diego Mesa in the Southern California Regional Finals on Saturday, November 30. This marks the second consecutive year the Mounties have faced the defending State Champions at this stage, coming up just one match short of advancing to the 3C2A State Championships, which will be hosted on their home court. The scores were 25-22, 25-17, 25-8, and 25-16.
While the season ends here, it's worth celebrating the team's incredible achievements and milestones. Sophomore Eva Becerra orchestrated the team's offense with 490 assists, 43 service aces, and 152 digs. Sophomore Jordyn Romano delivered 227 kills and 89 blocks, while Sophomore Itzel Aguayo added 118 kills and 82 blocks. Freshman of the Year Emma Carson contributed 178 kills, 192 digs, 22 service aces, and 21 blocks. Liberos Mayah Tiscareno and Freda Lei recorded 247 and 161 digs, respectively. Eva Fisher tallied 107 kills, 51 digs, and 38 blocks.
This year, the Mounties matched last season's success by advancing to the same stage in the playoffs, tying for the furthest the team has ever gone in program history. They built on that foundation to deliver an even stronger performance, finishing with an impressive 20-8 overall record, surpassing last year's 18-10 finish. Their accolades include Co-Conference Champions, Romano named to the SoCal All-Region Team (top 12 players in the region), multiple players named to All-SCC North First and Second Teams, and Head Coach Samantha Neely awarded Co-Coach of the Year.
It has been a pleasure to witness the Mounties' determination and teamwork on the court this season. With a talented group of freshmen ready to lead next year, the future looks bright for Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball. Congratulations on an incredible season—we're already excited to cheer you on next year!
