Mt. SAC Mounties Start Conference Play Strong with Win Over El Camino

In the first conference crossover match of the 2024 season, the Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball team defeated El Camino College 3-1. After dropping the first set 25-19, the Mounties came back strong to win the next three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-11.

Middle blockers Jordyn Romano and Itzel Aguayo delivered standout performances, with Romano recording five blocks and 13 kills for an impressive .375 hitting percentage. Aguayo contributed two blocks and eight kills, boasting an outstanding .533 hitting percentage.

Outside hitters Emma Carson and Candace Ceballos excelled on defense, combining for a total of 28 digs. Setter Eva Becerra also played a crucial role, adding 12 digs and 25 assists to the team's efforts.

With this victory, Mt. SAC improves its record to 10-4, while El Camino falls to 2-8. The Mounties are eager to carry this momentum into their next match against Cerritos College on Friday, September 27. In the latest poll, Mt. SAC is ranked No. 6 in Southern California and No. 11 in the state, while Cerritos is ranked No. 10 in Southern California and No. 18 in the state.
