Mountie Softball overcomes early deficit to gain SCC win over Pasadena, win streak reaches 14

(Walnut, CA) Pasadena City College (4-20, 0-13) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but host Mt. San Antonio College (22-6, 12-1) tied the game in the bottom half of the inning. From there, the Mounties pulled away to an 8-4 South Coast Conference win on Friday, March 29.

Morgan Knubuhler (2-3, 2 R, RBI, HR, SB), Katie Griego (2-3. RBI, 2B, SB), Alyssa Rubalcava (2-4, RBI, 2B), Amanda Esquivel (1-4, R, 2 RBI), Janis Espinoza (1-3, R, 3B), Mercedes Alba (1-4, R, RBI, 2B), and Allie Kirkpatrick (1-3, R, RBI, 2B) spearheaded Mt. SAC's offense, which tallied 11 hits on the day.

In relief of starter Rubalcava (1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB. 1 SO), Dallas Garcia (6-0) got the win for the Mounties, throwing six innings, allowing one run (unearned) on one hit, while striking out five.

Winners of 14 in a row, Mt. SAC will hit the road for an SCC game at Compton College (17-10, 7-6) on Thursday, April 4, at 3 p.m. This will be the third matchup of the season between the schools. The Tartars won the first game,3-2, on Feb. 22, and the Mounties took the second, 8-0, on March 14.
