Austin Hernandez has served as Head Coach of the Mt. SAC Dance Team since 2023, bringing several years of experience in dance instruction and choreography. His passion, creativity, and leadership have made him an integral part of the program’s continued success.
In 2025, Austin led the Mt. SAC Dance Team to a fifth-place finish in jazz and a third-place finish in hip hop at the NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach. This marked yet another strong showing in the team’s long-standing tradition of national competition, which began in 2013. The Mt. SAC Dance Team proudly holds six NDA National Championships—two of which Austin earned as a performer during his time on the team.
Austin’s dance journey began at Mt. San Antonio College, where he was a standout member of the Dance Team. He later continued his collegiate dance career with the Broncettes Dance Team at Cal Poly Pomona. During his time on both teams, he served as a two-year Captain and one-year Vice President.
After college, Austin worked as a dance teacher and choreographer at Spotlight Unlimited Studio, where he was honored with a Best Choreography award. He then returned to Mt. SAC as a volunteer coach, continuing to share his passion for dance and mentorship with the next generation of Mountie performers.
In addition to his accomplishments in dance, Austin holds an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology from Mt. San Antonio College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cal Poly Pomona. He currently resides in Chino, CA, and enjoys journaling, spending time with friends, and shopping at Lululemon.
